Privacy Policy
What data is transmitted
When you use the DYG Score extension on a news article, the following information is sent to our API at truespireindex.web.app:
- The URL of the article — used as a cache key so the same article is not re-analyzed unnecessarily.
- The article text — headline, byline, and body text extracted from the page. This is sent to our AI analysis service to generate the veracity score.
If you choose to submit feedback using the feedback form inside the extension, the following is also sent:
- The article URL — to identify which article the feedback relates to.
- Your feedback text — the message you type and submit.
What data is NOT collected
- No user accounts or sign-in is required or performed.
- No browsing history is stored or transmitted beyond the specific article being analyzed.
- No IP addresses are logged or retained.
- No cookies, advertising identifiers, or tracking pixels are used.
- No data is sold or shared with third parties for advertising or profiling.
Session cache
Analysis results are stored in Firefox's storage.session, which is local to your browser and is automatically cleared when Firefox closes. This cache means you see instant results if you revisit the same article in the same session, without making a repeat API call.
How article data is used
Article text sent to our API is used exclusively to generate a veracity score using AI language models. The article text is passed to the AI model for analysis and is not stored in any database linked to you, your device, or any identifier. Aggregate, anonymized cache entries (score results keyed only by URL hash) may be retained on our servers to speed up analysis of the same article for other users.
Third-party services
Our analysis backend uses the following third-party AI services to process article text:
- Anthropic Claude — for AI-based veracity scoring. Article text is sent to Anthropic's API under their privacy policy.
- Anthropic Web Search — to ground analysis against live web sources. Specific claims from the article may be submitted as search queries.
No other third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services are used.
Children's privacy
DYG Score is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
